Organist, Principal Accompanist
James Longford works as a collaborative pianist, repetiteur & continuo player, and in music theatre and education. A former Organ Scholar of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, he studied at the Royal College of Music, winning the coveted Tagore Gold Medal. He was delighted to be selected as a Steinway Artist in 2014.
James works regularly with the Royal Opera House & Royal Ballet, English National Opera, BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus, London Concert Choir, Kokoro, Synergy Vocals, Heritage Orchestra, Birmingham Opera Company, and Garsington Opera. He was a founder member of the groundbreaking orchestra Southbank Sinfonia and is also a solo and duo recitalist for some of the world’s most prestigious cruise lines.
James founded the Galos Piano Trio in 2012. They are the Ensemble-in-Residence for Dyfed, inspiring budding young composers and performers with masterclasses and composition workshops in beautiful west Wales.
